For older children, you can diversify and complicate the process of creating applications. Not only colored paper and cardboard can be used, but also natural materials and a herbarium.
Application – Forest theme
For this work, you should prepare a whole idea for the composition. It could be a forest, a lake or some animals. A squirrel in the forest on a tree, or some kind of picture of a dawn in the forest. There are no restrictions on ideas. The main thing is to use materials as close as possible to the topic. That is, we need to motivate children to use the natural colors of the world around them.
For variety, you can use pine needles. They perfectly imitate grass or serve as decoration for a branch on which an applique paper squirrel sits.
Fire engine
The fire truck applique looks very impressive and interesting. It has a lot of details and at the same time it is simple to implement. For an idea, a stencil or a simple picture will be suitable, according to which children can reproduce a fire truck.
A fire truck applique in the middle group will be a great idea on the topic of fire safety. For the base, take cardboard, a red sheet of paper, a white sheet and felt-tip pens.
Application – Winter
Everyone loves winter. New Year and gifts. You should dream up your imagination on this topic and embellish the appliqués of snowflakes and snowmen with additional materials, such as cotton wool or streamer rain. The idea will look very original if you make a serpentine frame.
For an original application, you can make a picture of children playing in the yard or making a snowman. A more detailed idea could be the Snow Maiden and Santa Claus with gifts. In addition, a picture of a winter forest with cotton wool decoration instead of snow looks very interesting. There are no restrictions and you can even work without ready-made templates. Children will use their imagination and make cardboard or paper figures.
Application – Zoo
This work is perfect for middle and high school classes. For the middle group, you can make the idea of an enclosure in which animals live. This is great space for the imagination. You can create a whole savannah with lions and zebras, or, for example, some kind of bird garden with a variety of bright paper parrots.
Additional materials can be natural parts taken from nature (herbarium). In addition, you can additionally decorate the work with different paints and felt-tip pens, which will add originality to it.

Simple car applique for kids
This simple option is suitable even for small children from 2 years old. To work you need to find material:

It is difficult for children to draw figures; in the early stages they are printed using a printer on colored paper. Parents should be involved in the process so that the baby can observe the actions and repeat. Simple application instructions:
- cut out 2 small circles, 1 rectangle and a square;
- small ovals are cut out of red paper, which will indicate the presence of headlights (since the panel will be two-dimensional, only 2 pieces will be needed);
- then the assembly process begins - each part is coated with glue and placed on the base.
