60+ patterns and master classes for children of all ages

In the modern rhythm of life, working mothers do not have it easy: there are so many things to do, and then there is also the craft for kindergarten. The process of creativity with the baby itself does not cause trouble for the mother; rather, on the contrary, a caring parent happily spends time with his child. But thinking about a creative project and generating suitable ideas can become a real unsolvable task. All these homework assignments from teachers are by no means a whim; time spent together creating a common project will bring parents and children closer, and the positive emotions received will remain in the memory. The baby himself is not yet able to generate ideas, so parents, mom or dad should take care of this issue. In order not to waste precious time reinventing the wheel, we suggest using ready-made ideas for New Year’s crafts for kindergarten and having fun doing an enjoyable activity.

The master classes collected in the article are of different levels of complexity, so you can easily find a suitable craft for both the little ones who are just beginning to discover their capabilities, and for older children who already skillfully handle scissors and this is not their first New Year’s craft! In general, good luck!

Paper crafts for children

If you still think that only appliques can be made from paper, then drop everything and carefully look at our article! Here you will find many different paper crafts for preschoolers, which you can proudly present to the entire kindergarten! We urgently drop everything and start creating New Year's paper crafts according to our diagrams and templates.

New Year's wreath made of paper palms: making crafts for the New Year in kindergarten

A great craft option for kids. So, for a New Year's wreath you will need: a disposable paper plate, green paper, a red ribbon, as well as beads, rhinestones, mini pompons and other decorative elements. Cut out the bottom of a paper plate to make a ring. Well, we trace the child’s hand on paper and cut out about 12 prints. Glue them onto the ring and decorate. New Year's craft for kindergarten is ready!

Christmas tree made of paper palms: preparing for the New Year with children

If Western traditional New Year's decorations are not to your liking, you can make a Christmas tree from paper palms. For this you will need: a paper plate, a paper towel roll, a cardboard triangle, colored paper, glue (you can use double-sided tape), decorative elements. Cut out a triangle from cardboard (this is the base of our Christmas tree). Paint the Polonets bushing brown. Make three cuts on one side, two on the other. With the side with three cuts, glue the sleeve to the plate, and where there are two cuts, insert a cardboard triangle. Now that the Christmas tree is fixed, all that remains is to attach the paper palms to it. It will be more convenient for kids to glue it with double-sided tape. When the Christmas tree is pasted over, all that remains is to attach the star and the “toys”. Cover the glued spot and the craft is ready!

New Year's garland made of paper: making New Year's lanterns with your own hands

For this craft you will need plain white paper, glue, scissors and thin colored paper, also known as colored tracing paper. We cut out light bulbs from white paper, and cut colored tracing paper into squares. We coat the body of the light bulb with PVA glue and paste it with tracing paper squares. When the glue dries, cut off the excess, attach the light bulbs to the thread and the craft is ready!

Volumetric snowflake for the New Year: making a craft for kindergarten

Snowflakes are considered one of the obligatory attributes of the New Year. So why not make a snowflake as a New Year's craft? We will make a three-dimensional snowflake, and for this you will need: paper, scissors, glue or a stapler. Take a sheet of A4 paper and fold it like an accordion, then fold the accordion in half. Draw a curved line on one side of the accordion and cut along it. Now all that remains is to glue the halves of the carved accordions together and the snowflake is ready!

DIY New Year crafts made from paper rings

In order not to think for a long time about crafts for the New Year for children, it is worth remembering your childhood. I don’t know about you, but I remember making crafts from rings of colored paper. You can make a garland, or, for example, a Christmas tree. All you need to make is colored paper, scissors and glue. See the Christmas tree diagram below.

New Year card with finger paints

Grandparents are especially pleased to receive gifts from their grandchildren that they made with their own hands. The kids, of course, will need a little help. Mainly with an idea, they will do the rest on their own! We suggest drawing a postcard with finger paints. For children under 3 years old, we strongly recommend using specialized paints, because... the baby may decide to taste the paint. See the master class below.

We recommend: DIY New Year's crafts for kindergarten, 18 master classes

With your fingers you can draw not only a Christmas tree, it can be a winter landscape, New Year's lanterns and in general anything you like!

New Year's paper wreath: making crafts for the New Year with children

This version of the New Year's wreath is suitable for older children who know how to handle scissors. What do you need? Green and red paper, ruler, scissors, glue or stapler. We fold a sheet of green paper in half, retreat about 2 cm from the edge and draw it into strips about 1 cm wide. Next, cut it (note that you need to cut from the side of the fold of the paper). We open the sheet and roll it into a ring, gluing it along the edge (where we made a 2 cm indent). You can glue them with glue, double-sided tape or a stapler. Now we close our “pipe” into a ring and secure it. The wreath is almost ready, all that remains is to decorate it (you can use colored paper, or you can use rhinestones, stickers or sequins).

By the way, we also have ideas for New Year’s wreaths and not only made from paper!

Tasks for each group

To develop creative thinking in children of the nursery and junior kindergarten groups, it is proposed to make simple things. These are mainly contrasting paper applications and simple modeling from plain plasticine.

Older children (middle group) are already more diligent; they confidently wield scissors and independently cope with three-dimensional structures and gluing together elements. Pupils prepare cards for parents for festive events. The design of home products becomes more complex and decorative elements are added.

By the senior group, children's skills are growing and they are mastering new techniques for working with materials. Girls are interested in quilling (creating images using twisted paper parts).

Boys enthusiastically take on the creation of three-dimensional “military” models, reproducing tanks, planes, ships and combat vehicles using parts made of cardboard, wood or plastic.

DIY New Year's wreaths: 40+ master classes of New Year's wreaths for the door

Preparing for the New Year is sometimes even more enjoyable than the celebration itself. The whole family, including the youngest residents, can take part in the interior decorating process. You can decorate an apartment or house for the New Year holidays in a variety of ways, but recently New Year's wreaths, which we know better from romantic Hollywood Christmas films, have become very popular.

Volumetric Christmas tree made of paper: making a craft for kindergarten

From strips of colored paper you can make a postcard or a picture with a three-dimensional Christmas tree. What you will need: Whatman paper for the base, green, brown and yellow paper, ruler, scissors, glue. We cut the green paper into strips of equal width. We cut out a star from the yellow bug, and a stump from the brown one. Glue a stump onto whatman paper, fold strips of green paper into an air loop and glue the ends. We glue a strip of double-sided tape onto whatman paper, onto which we glue paper loops. We make five rows of loops in this way, decreasing by one each time. Glue a star on the top and the craft is ready!

Or, as an option, you can make a three-dimensional Christmas tree in this way:

Snowman postcard: New Year crafts for children

With kids you can make a simple but very original card in the shape of a snowman. You will need whatman paper (for a postcard), colored paper of orange and any other color, and a black felt-tip pen. We make a postcard from whatman paper, glue a horizontal strip of colored paper in the middle and a smaller strip diagonally (it turns out to be a scarf). We draw eyes, mouth and buttons. Cut out a carrot from orange paper and glue it onto the snowman's face. All you have to do is sign and the New Year's card is ready!

Mixed media painting: watercolor and wax

An excellent New Year's craft would be a painting using watercolors and wax crayons. There is no need to run to the store for special crayons; for this you can use a regular candle (preferably not colored). Draw something with wax on a sheet of paper: it could be a snowflake or Christmas trees in the snowdrifts, and then paint it all with watercolors. In places where there is wax, the paint will spread and the baby will get an extraordinary picture.

We fold the sheet into a triangle and once again make cuts in a checkerboard pattern. Next, we unfold the sheet, attach a thread to the top, and hang the Christmas tree! The craft is ready! Origami technique

Paper toys, animals, plants, vehicles, birds, and various objects made using the Japanese origami technique will delight anyone to whom they are presented - parents, close friends.

Origami differs from appliqués, cutting out silhouettes and many other types of art in that it is the art of the whole. There is no need to cut or glue anything, you just need to use one whole sheet of paper. It is possible to add expressiveness to the craft and individuality by adding some details. For example, eyes, animal faces, patterns on the body, clothes.

Recently popular modular origami, which is more difficult for children, consists of several pieces of paper.

New Year crafts for children made from salt dough

A wonderful New Year's craft can be made from salt dough. To prepare salt dough you will need: 1 part flour, 1 part salt and ½ part water.

Christmas tree decorations made of salt dough and twigs

You can make a cute Christmas tree toy from dough and ordinary twigs. We prepare the twigs in advance; they can be collected while walking with the baby along the street (many children themselves bring all sorts of interesting things home from the street). We make two circles from the dough and use sticks to lay out figures, for example, a Christmas tree, a snowflake, a house, etc. In order for the sticks to hold well, they need to be slightly pressed into the dough. Next, we send the craft to dry. When the dough has completely hardened, you can proceed to decorating.

Crafts from salt dough for children: making New Year's gnomes

In essence, salt dough is the same as plasticine, only the dough hardens in air, thus making the craft durable. You can make a huge variety of different crafts from dough, but for kids we recommend trying to start with gnomes. The gnome is a cone made of dough, which the child can mold on his own. We send the cones to dry, and then paint them. Ready!

A simple New Year's dough craft for beginners

And one more option for New Year's crafts for beginners. Cut out round pieces from the dough (this can be done with a regular glass). We make holes along the diameter for the threads and send the workpieces to dry. After complete drying, we pull colored threads through the holes. You can additionally decorate with beads, rhinestones or sparkles. The Christmas tree can be decorated with buttons, beads, candies or marmalades. Buttons can be glued both before and after drying, but you should decorate them with candies or marmalades before drying and dry them in the oven (the candies will melt and look like glass decorations).

New Year's candy for the Christmas tree made from salt dough

To develop children's fine motor skills, you can make a New Year's candy. To do this, prepare dough of two colors (without dye and with dye). Thread painting for the New Year for children

For the New Year holidays, you can master a new needlework technique with children - paintings from threads. To do this you will need a picture without small parts, knitting threads, scissors and glue. Cut the threads into small pieces in advance and prepare the picture. Now the most interesting thing awaits us: spread the outline of the picture with glue and trace it with thread, press lightly so that the thread does not move. We wait until the glue dries and begin to fill the middle of the picture (we apply glue and cover it with finely chopped threads). The craft is ready, the baby is happy!

DIY snowflake made of threads

You can make an unusual snowflake from knitting threads and twigs. We will need five sticks, knitting threads, plasticine or glue. We fasten the sticks in the center in the form of a snowflake. We wrap the middle with thread so that the attachment point is not visible, and then we wrap each stick. As a result, we get a pretty nice snowflake from ordinary twigs and threads.

Christmas tree on a lace: a New Year's craft for the little ones

We offer the little ones to make lace-up crafts. Children under 3 years old do not yet have access to all the capabilities of their body, so we suggest developing fine motor skills with the help of lacing. Mom needs to prepare a blank on thick cardboard in advance (a Christmas tree, a boot, a mitten, a Christmas ball or something else), and use a hole punch to make holes for the thread along the edges. You need to tie a knot at one end of the thread and wrap the other with tape to make it easier to pull it through the holes in the cardboard. We show the baby the principle of lacing and enjoy the process!

An excellent option would be a Christmas tree made by winding threads on a thick cardboard blank. To make it you will need: a piece of thick cardboard, knitting threads, double-sided tape, beads. Place double-sided tape on the base of the cardboard to secure the thread. Wind the threads tightly onto the cardboard, and in the last row, thread the beads through the thread. Decorate the top with a star button and leave a small thread so that the Christmas tree can be hung.

Christmas tree made of sticks and threads

And here's another version of the Christmas tree? We’ll just make it out of popsicle sticks. You will need sticks (you can also use ordinary twigs), paints, glue, knitting threads, decorative elements (mini pompoms, beads, buttons, etc.). We paint the sticks green and glue them in the shape of a triangle. We wrap the structure with threads and decorate. If you plan to decorate with beads, then it is better to put them on threads and then wrap them. To make the Christmas tree stand as a stand, you can use a clothespin. It is necessary to cut it out and additionally cut small squares of 2x2 cm in size from corrugated paper. Small areas of the heart are coated with glue. A square is glued to these places. You will need a toothpick to lift the edges. This fills the entire surface.

There should be no small parts, because... It will be difficult for the baby to cope. We give the hat for coloring. When the coloring is finished, cut out the hat and move on to the next stage. For this we need cotton wool or cotton balls and glue. We fill the lapel with the pompom with cotton wool, having previously coated these areas with glue. All that remains is to glue the string and you can hang the hat on the Christmas tree! By the way, if you make a lot of hats, you can combine them into a whole garland!

What you need for creativity

With paper and cardboard everything is almost clear. We create from what we find at home. A wide variety of paper products are suitable:

  • white office paper;
  • tracing paper;
  • wrapping paper;
  • old newspapers, magazines;
  • old tattered books, scraps of wallpaper, scribbled school and music notebooks;
  • paper for scrapbooking, designer and speckled;
  • any colored paper, including corrugated and metallized paper;
  • cardboard packaging for cereals, cereals, dairy products, sweets, disposable cardboard plates;
  • large parcel boxes and shoe or clothing boxes;
  • regular student cardboard is white or colored with different textures - from velvety to corrugated.

In addition, other auxiliary tools should always be at hand:

  • cutting and piercing: scissors, stationery knife, awl, stapler (if available, then a special one - figured);
  • ruler and compass;
  • PVA glue or glue stick and glue gun;
  • paints (gouache or watercolor), colored and simple pencils, felt-tip pens, colored gel pens, markers, brushes;
  • plasticine, salt dough or other modeling mass;
  • various materials for decorating products: sequins, beads, beads, braid, lace, scraps of fabric and fur, woolen threads... in general, everything you can find at home.
